What is this broadcast all about?
The broadcast, to put it in simple terms, is actually just a Winamp to Winamp transmission, so all you need is to get a Winamp for it. I know some people don't use Winamp on their computers. It has been proven that some (yes, I don't know why, but it's for some only, not all) people managed to tune in using other forms of players such as Window Media Player and RealMedia players. You can try giving it a shot nevertheless.
If you are behind a firewall or a router, chances are you will likely be blocked by the incoming broadcast signals and you won't be able to listen to it. Check your computer's settings and your anti-virus programs on how to turn off firewalls and routers, if you want to tune in.
Be prepared for sub-par sound quality, occasional transmission losses, frequent sound bufferings and technical errors. This is a broadcast that relies on the simplest program available and one Starhub Cable connection (which uploads at a pathetic rate of 256kbps, to be shared among all the residents in one block of flats).
There are a few amateur DJs with different personalities and time slots to intro, mainly chinese pop songs to the masses. Do support them if you can.
If you are interested in coming a DJ yourself, setting up a broadcast station is really simple and idiot-proof. All you need is a computer, a microphone, and Winamp to run your mp3 files (and yes only mp3 files..You cannot run on other forms of file like Wma or Wav..take note of that).
